Spherical Roller Bearings
Spherical roller bearings have asymmetrically sphered or barrel shaped rollers. These bearings have two inner ring raceways and a common spherical raceway on the outer ring. The center of the spherical curvature on the outer ring coincides with the bearing center and therefore, are internally self aligning. The rollers conform closely to the inner and outer raceways giving the bearings high load carrying capacity.
These bearings are suitable for applications where the shaft relative to the housing bore is prone to angular misalignments. Under normal loads, depending on the dimensional series, the maximum permissible angular misalignment is approximately 2 to 4 degrees.
